1.    De plus en plus, tenor

    

C. F. Tenor Mass

2.    Missa De plus en plus by Johannes Ockeghem

          - This mass uses a tenor cantus firmus as its framework

            - The C.F. comes from the tenor of Binchois’s chanson

 

The Frottola

3.    El Grillo (Frottola) by Josquin Des Prez (pg. 126)

              -Preceeded the Madrigal

                  -Simple four-part strophic song form with the melody in                                       the upper voice

                  -It may have influenced the development of the Parisian                                      Chanson

 

The Motet

4.    Ave Maria by Josquin Des Prez (pg. 118-119)

                  -He uses imitation

                  -Each musical phrased is assigned a “musical subject” this                                  is then passed along through other voices

                  -His music is ever flowing with limited points of rests

 

The Paraphrased Mass
